Fine Wine heads up. This wine is less than half price at £13.49. The proper normal retail price for this wine is generally around £30 (£300 a case). This Asinone 2009 vintage (a high ranking VNDM) is a tannic beast - read cellar tracker. High acidity as well - not for novices. James Suckling 93 points. Decanter Silver. IWC silver Needs at least five more years to show of its best. Good till 2022 plus they say There was some depth of stock in a special clearance area. Not in the normal wine section, probably only large stores. 20/06/2013 |

Forgive me for hijacking your thread D, this reminded me... My wife gave me a bottle of 2003 La Campana Brunello di Montalcino for our WA recently, this is a little above my usual price point so Im not sure when I should break the seal. A recent TN on CT states it needs more time, but how long, another year? 5? 10? CT TN. I wouldn’t want to miss out on that sweet Sangiovese fruit. |

Hi GK, Thanks for helping me out Richard. GK, I just don't have enough experience to say. The CT TN, written on 18th May this year says this Brunello needs more time. BBR say, and we know this stuff, that although fierce heat all over Europe in 2003, it was less of a problem with Sangiovese in Tuscany. They have a similar wine and say ready, but will improve. Your primary interest is making sure the sweet cherry fruit is right in the middle palate, and I know that you don't need too much dirt and dung.....So I do like the 2003 ripe sweet fruit all over Europe where the producer has kept everything under control and picked a little earlier. Lovely wines but not long - long term keepers. So interpolating - and to ensure the sweet Sangio, I'd say now till Christmas 2015. This is a Post that requests an opinion from Mel - please. GK, a TN is requested. Richard if you are coming to Bourne End, Bucks very soon, I think I could acquire six bottles for you to pickup from here. Sorry for the delay GK - I've been looking up stuff to qualify an opinion. Hijacking, who said that, no bother, it's wot we do here |

Dunc, Hi, sorry to say no trips planned for the near future to see the folks. A very kind offer indeed though, I might call Chesterfield branch as this is a mega store so might have it in stock. I would echo your drinking window of the next 2 years on this wine GK has. Regards Richard |

Rich, Phone Chester now. There is only one bottle left in my store at 19:45 this evening. There were about 3 cases this morning shortly before 10, perhaps less 3 or 4 at the the front of the rows. The allocation appears to be 3 cases per Mega store - if that store is doing higher-end wines. If you reserve at customer services over the phone, I know they will entertain that request, ask nicely, like you do. When you pay for them, you will get an extra 5% off if buying more than 6 bottles, and this applies to the Vina Pomal rioja reserva 2008, if you cant find 6 or more Asinone's. The Robert Mondavi Carneros Napa Reserve chardonnay 2010 - the signature version on the torn and painted label will also come up in a few days, about a case of these here. The bar codes haven't been sorted yet, I checked with a booted & suited wine guy. I also want a few, so I'll keep you posted. Normally £25, so I'm hoping for another grand slam. Mondavi 2010 CT TN I'm on the case with these T bin ends - Thanks to Shez , cheers. |

The wines are not on the wine system. They are biin ends, removed from their data base, BUT, they have bar codes so they work on the tills. OK You'll have to call the wine manager, and ask her / him if they have this wine in Bin End clearance. If so, the manager will fix it for you on Customer services. Pop the question about the Mondavi napa reserve chard if you are interested. This is a cuvee from grapes grown in the Hyde climat of Carneros - only 704 cases made. You have to persevere, Richard - how much do you want it ? |

Shez, yeah, too right I did, of course. I picked up 5, along with a pair of vina Pomal 2008 rioja. I went back for a few more of both - All gone. I dont know this wine either. But I've known a few good Montepulcianos, and they were fab with a proper Italian dinner. So, you've got plenty of time to work out the best way to have them Have a natter with one of your Italian friends, someone in the office, or whatever. Yep, we have to wait, the longer the better, it seems ! With this big and bold 2009. Poliziano are very proud of their south west facing vineyard. Hold the bottle up to the light of an old tungsten light bulb - this is a dark Sangiovese. Knowing rioja like the back of my h . . . the Vina Pomal 2008 reserva is a bit wierd on the 1st day, the oak is quite different. The American oak is not pop corny at all - tastes more European - but it is American oak barriques ! Almost rustic, dark and broody. On day three though, the wine is wonderfully resolved and very very rich - Nice for the price I'm enjoying a glass as I write, I'm finishing the bottle now. Ripe tempranillo. When you crack a Vina Pomal - double decant, and leave to build. |
