Chaps, Got 10 in total sleeping/crashing at mine tomorrow. Nine drinkers. Two friends are cooking a three course meal. The wines in no real order yet are, Sparkling wine - Delamotte NV (with a bit of bottle age) Gosset Champagne Brut Grand Millesime 1999 Burgundy - Chablis 'Vaillons' Christian Moreau 2008 Trimbach Pinot blanc 2005 Pontet Canet 2003 Arlaud BR Roncevie (vintage to be declared) Val Di Suga (Brunello) 1985 Tondonia GR 1985 (I think) Bordeaux - La Lagune 82 Rhone - Clos De Caillou Reserve 2005, Magnum Sauternes Barsac - Chateau Coutet 2005 - 75cl bottle Some I know very well some will be new to my taste buds. Should be a fun night. I have a couple more bottles lined up just in case of any duds. ![]() |

Hmmn nice. I'll start with the '99 champagne (hoping it's held, s/be ok) otherwise the Vaillons 1er on to the '03 Pauillac (extra lush) all other reds may be in its shadow for sheer power - so be careful with your order. finish with Coutet '05 (a beauty, lighter elegance) very Lovely. Hope the cooking is up to scratch ![]() Also I pray that your Lagune 82 is still as it would have been - which was amazing, a lovely flavour. |

Dunc, fingers crossed on the 82. I have a few nice back ups including Vina Ardanza Especial 2001, and Chateau Lynch Moussas 1999. I am most excited about the Suga 85. |

Therefore flawed. For a good bottle of '03 Pauillac to be shut down ! Virtually impossible from my experience. Never a riper and more opulent vintage have I known. Otherwise, I'd have to say that you lot were very unlucky. |

Dunc, Not corked as others said they enjoyed it ?? I think my palate must have been shot by the time we opened it ?? Strange as it just didnt deliver any punch, just rather dull and boring to me ?? |

Acidity would 'ave been a tad low, but fruit and tanins BIG. Dunno for you Richard. I looked up what CT folks said just now - they thought 2003 PC was a very opulent and perhaps an overly lush vintage - some TNs giving very big scores. So, as they say - It Could Be U. Hope you enjoyed the Barsac |
