Under the Government’s proposals, retailers would be barred from selling a dozen bottles of wine for less than the price of 12 individual bottles. That would outlaw discounts such as those offered by Direct Wines.

The Government says that its proposed restrictions would reduce irresponsible drinking and anti-social behaviour.
