Its already tomorrow in Australia.

Besides, I've got tickets for a band this evening so if someone could delay global death and destruction for one more day it would be appreciated.

Lets just say - Mayan astrologers may have made a mistake.

From a mathematical point of view, I prefered yesterday's date: 20.12.2012. The last palindrome this century - I think.

A client called this morning asking how much tax she would have to pay in January, I forgot to advise that a liability may not arise

Enjoy your concert GK.

Richard this could suit you An unusual windmill in a familiar landscape Can still be found in store at that offer price, if you can forgive them.

Mr B - keep up the good work, I have huge admiration for your control in reducing your wine intake.

Did the Mayans take into account leap years? If not, the world ended roughly 9 months ago.

Just saying.

We need a historian GK :wink: For geometry though, and looking back, to work out that the earth's rotation could not be calibated to a precise number of days for the repeating equinox requires 3 decent bearings on far away stars (or other mechanical means in past centuries) Taking the bearings near the poles (no one there) would have been unsatisfactory. So anywhere near Greece, Egypt, Persia would have been good.

Pope Gregory did a good job with documenting the Leap. It googles to 1582, (didn't remember the date). There were still folks around at the time who thought the world was flat !

So for the Mayan's, fairly unlikely - I think.

Palindromic dates are not set in stone. Depends on format.
Colonies = mm-dd-yy(yy) or proper = dd-mm-yy(yy).
Also whether leading zeros are allowed on single-digit days (03 11 30).
4 11 14 is allowed by some (4th Nov OR 11th Apr) etc...
