Viog,

I have edited this post, because it is a tricky one to answer.

Please say where you want to go. Chablis, Rhone, Claret, MSB, New world cab, Argentinian Malbec, SA claret clones, the Loire, Californian, Alsace, Oz, Rioja, Provence ?

Do you see the problem ? - What style, region, weight ? Do you want us to recommend.

We don't know what you favour ? It takes a long time, and many posts to build your profile. From that, it may be possible to properly measure and understand the styles of wine that interest you.

Please review Mel's recent TN posts for the Sainsburys wines, use current and previous articles, which are sometimes replicated in the Forum. Whilst Mel can't possibly cover everything, her opinion is very good for the wines that she has detailed in those posts. From her TNs, and our buy and taste add ons, you should be able to pick the wines that you may want to try.

Good luck

I filled my boots with the port offers.

Graham's Malvedos 99 - £27 > £16.80
TTD LBV 2003 - £25 > £15
Grahams's Crusted 2003 - £18 > £9.75
Taylors 10yr Tawny - £21 > £13.50

For the Sherry lovers
Hartley & Thomson Medium Amontilado - £12 > £4.50
It's meant to be quite good too.

The only things that tempted on the wine aisle was the Palo Alto Cab/Carm/Syrah which isn't bad, although perennially on offer. Down to £4.50 from £8.19 (hah!) but with a sticker on which offers a free bottle if you buy 3. You probably have to send off for a voucher or something, but still brings it down to £3.37.

Also a sancerre, Roc de l'Abbaye which was discounted already but can't remember the price. Something like £16 > £13 x 0.75 = £9.75

Go to Previous Articles from front page. Loads of Sainsbury's tasting notes. Best ones have a picture.

Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny is probably my fave Tawny port, Tesco were recently selling it for £16.49, may still do. Amazing quality for the price.

Good price for the Crusted, not tried the '03 yet but as its only the bottling year I dont expect it will matter much.

You have some pretty good 1s there Mr T.

Malvedos '99 Mmmn, I like VP's when the tannins are still evident / hanging around. I'm a heathen. The '99 could be perfect for me. Quote: Compact and intense with fruit flavours bursting to show themselves. Great structure and balance. Firm tannins and long, persistent finish. Loads of potential to develop." IWSC 2008.

The Florie Mellow (spelling) Roc de l'Abbaye 2010 got a Jancis score of 17/20 which means it is Good. JR does not embellish her opinion/scores. Let G know, when you get to it.

Also, anyone looking for another Loire SB, the Saget Pouilly Fume' 10 is on 25% off at Ocado - £9.35 I think. I can recommend that.

Picked up

2 * TTD St Emilion 2009
1 * Mas de Victor Graciano 2011
2 * La Couronne des Plantagenets Vouvray 2010/11
1 * Magnus Riesling 2009

With a £6 incentive coupon, £2.50 nectar + 25% off came to £30 - Fab!

Any idea how the St Emilion will age? Cellartracker don't do much Sainsburys brand wines...

It is 2009 :) How can you go wrong - dont keep for too long, just enough to get that evo that you WILL get. Say up to 5 years would be safe.

Tidy little haul for £30 - Nice.
