Good Sir, How is this Montana offering (Brancott Estate 2011) to your taste buds ?

Offers are flying about on this again. Is It a Girly cuvee, or acceptable for £6 a bot.

I had a bottle of the letter B series some time ago, the 2009 I think, and it was OK'ish

But..... for the bulk cheapo - what say you ?

Ta very muchly.

Brancott Estate has been consigned to a sugary grave alongside Oyster Bay and Nobilo.

BE is sweet with a hint of pith and little flavour. Not even at £4.99 will I buy this. Giesen at Maj is only £5.99. I have one on order. I also have on order JE 2010, Goldwater 2011 and some hopefully nice Menetou Salon.

If you buy a Brancott I suggest the perfect food match to be a Cadbury Flake.

My apologies to the Flake.

My apologies to the Flake

Cheers Mr G. enjoy the sun this evening - for tomorrow it may be gone.

JE'10 at Maj ? My guy said none to be had, but that was a while back. I have 3 in stock at the mo. So I'm not too desperate.

General Q. for those with good ideas this evening

I have two £10 online XXYZNNN codes from Big T - what should I go for ?

Just got some in......probably won't last long. I still have some left from Sainsbury before they dropped it. :x

I cannot believe that on Maj's dryness scale, JE is 2 and Oyster Bay 1. OB has 6.1g rs per litre to JE's 3.

Tesco....the 2011 Macon village chard is a bit austere compared to the 2010. As for your vouchers. Please order a case of this and send me a bottle.

While not sweet, I wouldn't bother with the brancott unless sub £5 as with the last sainsbury 25% discount
Ned is far superior

Dunno whether the brancott cab/merlot is worth a try at same px is the MSB

Have gone through the T website, not a lot leaping out at me. My picks:

Sherries:
TF dry Oloroso £5.60
La Gitana Manzilla (not tried myself but would like to) was £9.30, now £7.41

Offers:
Tesco now stock yali three lagoons Carmenere 2008! Offered at £7.59
TF gavi. Now £5.69
TF autumn Riesling. Was £9.99, now £5.69

All above px are before your £10 voucher

The largest and most famous Pouilly-Fumé vineyards have been in the hands of the Comte Lafond and
Ladoucette families since 1787 when the Comte Lafond purchased the region’s largest wine-growing estate
and Château from the illegitimate daughter of the French king, Louis XV. Baron Patrick de Ladoucette is a
direct descendant of the Comte Lafond and, in 1972, he took over the estate and began a series of investments
to increase the importance and diversity of his vineyards.

Well - there are a few ideas there.

The de Ladoucette Pouilly-Fume is a brilliant idea, The Yali three lagoons is another.

The La Gitana Manzilla is / or was last time I bought from Waitrose, a tad too oaky and smokey for me just now. One needs to be in exactly the right mood for La Gitana.

I will trawl the Big T site later, but not tonight and report back.

With that dilemna, I promptly went and spoilt myself, I opened a bottle of Dom Thibert Pierre & Fils Saint Veran 2007. Beautiful suble oak and honeyed finish to that chardonnay fruit. The wine has a particularly comfortable mouth feel with a lovely depth of ripe cantaloupe fruit. Do not serve this beauty too cool. Was available from Maj 3 years ago - Yummy.

That's why I've been away from here for hours ** :)

cheers

ps - I wonder if Maj will source me a few more JE'10, last time the response was - "Ugh" You'll be lucky - No chance ! I may ring around, and see for myself !

** Is good southern white burgundy stealing my heart.

Thanks Gray, good ideas there.

Yep, great eclectic mix from Marks, that is quite inspirational - and some to discover. Am I mentally trapped by the 2 x Tenner vouchers from T ?

Shame about the Malbec, as soon as the vouchers came in, the Malbec went back to full retail - it's generally the way of it.......

Will trawl big T later -

Off Topic but topical for us veg growers

Have loads to do, earning a living to pay for wine ! The veg plot is demanding attention this evening. Tomatoes dont look very happy - botrytis is going to be rampant if this damp weather continues. Gk, you have an open field aspect, so Botrytis is not going to get you at all, I suspect. huge Slugs, which are also carriers, are on their route march as well. Blackfly arrived on the gail force winds - A tale of ankst, lots to be sorted

All the colder climate stuff on my plot is growing well, broad beans, peas, cabbages, weeds etc., the french beans dont look happy though. My courgettes are doing well in the cold frame, should get my first crop in a week or so. Had my first new spuds at the weekend.

Shez- I'm still not convinced by the MPE Semillon, the bottle I opended at the weekend was tired and lacking that bite of lime freshness. As a 'white wine' it was pretty good though, went well with the pork dish, no complaints from Mrs GK.

You're doing very well.

I should have framed my Zuccini - they got stormed, but survived the onslaught.

My pots are not in flower yet ! - You work harder in the Spring - And it pays off handsomely
