The most expensive pie cost customers to the Fence Gate Inn, Lancashire, UK £8,195 (then $14,260) or £1,024 (then $1,781) per slice when ordered by eight guests on 14 November 2005. The pie's ingredients includes £500 ($870) worth of Japanese wagyu beef fillet (from cattle who treated so well they are even massaged!), Chinese matsutake mushrooms (£500 per 1kg; $870 per 2 lb 3 oz) - so precious, they are harvested under guard, Winter Black truffles, French Bluefoot mushrooms at £200 per 1 kg ($348 per 2 lb 3 oz), gravy made from made two bottles of vintage 1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild wine at £1,000 ($1,740) each and finally the pastry topped with edible gold leaf costing £100 ($174) per sheet.

:D I've been there. I keep suggesting going back, but the wife was sick afterwards (I think she was pregnant at the time and was sick pretty often) and doesn't want to. Their speciality is sausages if I'm not mistaken.

My Homemade Steak & Ale pie at the George & Dragon in Much Wenlock last Saturday Eve was truely delicious, and around 1/900th of the cost.

We are enjoying this Masterchef run-up to the final - Ba, please... I sincerely hope this end of the series is not giving you a serious dose of grumpyness - even though the exquisite seafood is not in your range for pleasure.

90 euro for a 3 michelin star Turbot starter is plenty, and I'd want two of them :oops: . I have done cuisine nouveau as an experimental treat just twice (massive hole in the pocket) and whilst the grub is lovely, I always leave the table feeling quite hungry ! Craving ? Not quite, and still another hole to fill. Negative equity - springs to mind......

Not at all, I am fully grumped already. Don't watch it - just can't stand those two presenters, one of which turns my stomach...

What can we do ?

Ever since Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity get me out of here - there has been a huge amount of dumbing down, that has swelled the audience figures for various show formats - You won't change the controller of BBC's mind, unless you change the mind set of the Audience !

We don't watch the programme for Gregg, and TBF, John occasionally looks slightly ill at ease with the way the Editor demands the programme to go out.

The final 3 contestants were jolly hard workers, and became skilled, and the michelin awarded chefs were showing us extra information and interest for all sorts of food preparation. Those high-end ingredients would cost more than an average weekly shop :wink:

Count me in, if you write to the controller of ITV1, arguably the most soaked and soaped of all of them. The Audience vote for Twitter Television these days

Ba, you may have to put-up your Klingon Shield to fend off this stuff, or as you say, use the off button. Enjoy your week-end

I think the country is past the gormless / uncouth tipping point. It's all downhill from here.
Soon be awarding 20 A******* gcse s to 5 year olds when they start school to save trouble.

I've been dragged (kicking & screaming) out of retirement to be officious at a national regional final. Players coming from Hants to Bucks and from Cornwall to Hereford. I'm a bit rusty. Might deserve some MSB after...

Good luck with the final, you'll need to be on top of the game, so, with those top players dicing for points...... You'll 'ave to do a bit of boning-up, after which, you'll deserve a drop of the current gold standard.

My last Goldwater '10 taken at 250 ml / day went down very well, and lasted the distance too.
Stock down to single figures now.

A third-a-day is good for the pocket, probably good for the liver. Good for the soul ? Good for the body and difficult for the mind !

* You are allowed to acquire some more before National stock is depleted. Well done on spinning it out. It does keep well :) I've been disciplining myself a bit as well. Hard with a number like G'10
