I'm running low on everyday stuff, was thinking of getting a case or two of a decent white glugger for over the summer, any recco's guys?

I've almost finished the M&S PX and the Fragoso, both have proved very enjoyable. I will re-stock if they go back on offer.

Anakena Chardonnay 2011 Central Valley.

I've tasted this wine on the table at Majestic, it is £7.49 now and no discount for multiples !

A lovely chilean chardonnay, quite french in feel, unoaked, but leesy and quite bright.
I am imformed that some CoOps are clearing the previous 2010 vintage at a knock down price. In your part of the country, you might just be lucky enough to find it - worth a look.

Good Luck.

Just got an email from Maj to say that St Halletts Poachers blend is now down to 4.99 when you buy 2
decent saving there.

Cheers.

That Anakena, IIRC there's a drop of Viognier thrown in, will look for it.

That's a good price for the Poachers, Waitrose want £10 for this now. The GKR (red) '08 will remain one of my all-time lengendary finds at £4, stunning stuff, loved every drop.

Be careful with the Poachers '10, it has a poor rating on CT, taste first.

I'm clean-out on everyday Whites !

GK - I think we are all in this dilemna after the price hike 28 days ago !

The cheapest wine I have on the rack is the remaining two of the beautiful Vavasour '09 MSB ! Followed by Goldwater '10 MSB and The Stich '10 - opened a VAV'09 for my birthday - for me VAV drinks like a more elegant and racy Cloudy Bay '09..... Bizzare !

So - I need to get a move on too.

Would I like Poachers ? Anyone

Was going to score The Ned eleven at £6.99 or try that Ara Compo on the riper '09 harvest at £5.99.

Where, what and when.........If I had CoOps who don't appear to clear many wines with unusual names over a fiver  - I'd be looking for the Anakena '10 (reputed clearance £4.99)

Maj have the Anakena at £7½. None of my Co-ops had it last time around.

I've still got loads of everyday whites

The Anakena is only in the ex-Somerfield Co-ops round here. I've not tried the Chardonnay.

Poachers Blend is not really my thing. I don't have a TN but I don't think it'll be yours either, Dunc.

The Ned is what I would go for. If I can find a Co-op that stocks it I'll buy a single before getting more from maj.

I've yet to buy a single bottle in 2012. :D

Vina Sol Torres is £4.99 at Tesco. It'll probably be 50p in your local

Cheers Paul, ex- Somerfield it is then.

Thanks, loads of good info in your post.

Checked my local last night, no Anakena or the Santa Rita 120 Carmenère I was hunting.

I just had a quick look at the white offers for March, of the eight wines six are Pinot Grigio. Nice.

GK, What do ya know ?

I can buy, or could at least have bought recently that Santa Rita 120 Carmenère down here. In a very new Co-Op store, not ex anything.

I just checked when doing an 02 top-up @ the Co-Op. The Santa Rita 120 Carmenère is £6.99 on the 2010 vintage, there is a row of them.

Dunc, the SR 2010 has received a number of decent write-ups, I noticed Maj are selling it at £5.99 (buy two) but Coop had it reduced to £4.99, I wanted this for my house red if agreeable but cant find it in any of my local stores, I plan to try another at lunch time. Chilean Carmenere can be a very nice BBQ red and doesnt mind a light chilling, good with burnt meats  , not too dry.

Just need to find it first :?

Just visited another store, they had plenty of the Anakena but it was the 2008. I passed.

This doesnt surprise me with this particular store, they have a shelf full of 2003 Rully.

The version in Maj seems to have no Vio, whilst the one that I found in a co-op has Vio on the label.

There is also an Anakena SB at Maj - anyone tried that??
