This looks like a made-to-order exclusive. No comparisons therefore. Was already down (from £16) to £9. Now an extra quid off to make it 'half price'. I'd try one instore first (if there are any !!). |

It's from a decent Chablis Producer, you never know. I would follow B's advice and try one first if you can find it. This duff offer made me chuckle, £2.99 a bottle in Calais. |

Not come across it. As for jaw dropping floral aromaa. Mrs Gooseygogs rose bath oil is quite nice. Bit gay.....but quite nice. Like GK, I should imagine. |

How about THIS. Im tempted for over the summer, their new offer of -25% for x12 (two cases of six) brings the bottle price down to £6. I like the lime sharpness you often get with Touraine SB. What say you guys? Edit- just found this- http://www.quaffersoffers.co.uk/QOforum ... ht=marteau |

I had the 09 and all I got was alcohol and battery acid. The 2010 is beloved by many a wine writer though. I will try one along with the St Clair next time i'm in. |

The 2010 is beloved by many a wine writer though Goose, Beloved is a touch over complimentary. However, nout wrong with this wine on the 2010 vintage either. Mouth feel is well above the discounted price - I was surprised, having just finished a Grand cuvee sancerre as an appero before we sat down. We had this wine with Waitrose smoked **salmon, mild cream & chive cheese on mini higher baked pancakes - less **salty that the cheaper packs from Sains & Tesco. The wine is a bright fruit LSB, ripe gooseberry, sweetish green pepper and lime, a touch of lime skin zest, not pungent, yet nicely free of any sulphur. Less dry than some, but enough fruit for smokey fish and cream cheese. Minerality a little low, but then, at half price, so is the dosh. No *battery acid here Folks who bought should be happy - mouth feel for an SB was * nearly a pleasure actually. Similar mouth feel to VM clifford bay. Don't serve this too cold - OK |

To be honest, i'm not a fan of Touraine sb. There is a limit to how good they can be. The 2010 of this is about the best you can hope for. Sancerre/ PF can be dreadfully disappointing but also wonderful. £7.99 is too much money for this wine and for £6 i'd prefer a beer or two I want enjoyable wine not acceptable for the money wine. |

To be fair Mr G, this is a lot more than an indiferent Touraine. You're right though, some discounted high volume sancerre has been dire in poor vintages. I think it is £8 worth (looking at vintages '07 to date) Sure, it will never achieve your call, let's face it G ! You just don't bother with more of the same, even in a reasonable vintage. That's why you have upped the budget for wines that give you satisfaction. I understand completely your stance G...... But QO is about prevention and advice - stopping folks from buying a hiddeous load of tosh for much bigger pocket money than this. It is very annoying that you have to buy six. The starting price of 16 knicker was nonsence - that's the marketing b*ll*cks that gets up my goat. |

I got the same offer again in my inbox today Don't think I'll bother This what I thought last Valentines day. Minerality a little low, but then, so is the dosh. No *battery acid here Shezz, Unless Goose says that the recent release of the 2010 is fading fast, I am more than likely going with this: It is the 2010 vintage, the last of the balanced cheapo Loire vintages for a while **. The future looks dull, and I don't want to spread bad calma .....But. The reviews for Domaine Jacky Marteau Sauvignon Blanc were for the 2010 vintage, they were written in November 11 and Feb 12. The supermarkets are naughty to hang Decanter and IWC awards on last year's vintages ! But of course, in a poor year, an IWC winner would have been a wine at the low end of the scores in a good year. The '11's are not clever drinking (see Mr G's recent opinions), and the 12's will be dire when / or IF you have been enjoying the ripe Loire SB of recent years. So, at the mo, I'm looking for some vouchers, and then I shall take 6. The starting point at £16 a bottle is clearly a load of absolute bunkum. Future growing conditions: **Given the prospects of an even wetter northern hemisphere climate, for latitudes 47 degrees north and in the west - Long term forecasts don't look great. Jet stream is far further south and running down the middle of the channel, hitherto the stream ran at the Aberdeen latitude. |

I'm sure it'll still be ok I'm just of the thinking that I'd get as much please from Black cottage/goldwater (maybe even Ned) MSBs for the same price so no need for me to rush out and buy some of this |
