We went down to M&S this morning. They opened at 6am at Cribbs Causeway and I had nothing - NOTHING - to wear for Christmas Day. It was wonderfully empty when we arrived, but by 8am the queue to pick up ordered turkeys went round and round those airport-style barriers and then down THE WHOLE LONG SIDE OF THE STORE AND HALF WAY DOWN THE SHORT SIDE. There were perfectly good, unordered, turkeys on the shelves. Maybe 100 people in a slow moving queue.

We went over to have breakfast there and I noticed that they now have dozens of bottles of the beautiful Barolo Peironte, reduced from £22, to £10 (the offer is nationwide). I made the mistake of recommending it on the radio a couple of weeks ago, which may have helped to clear the last few bottles of the original shipment. Anyway, it's back in. Bought six, with an added 10% off, so £9 a bottle. Not exactly the thing to have with turkey, but so delicious I may have to just open it anyway, along with the pinot noir.

Yeah - just finished my dear parent's probate IHT account. I've been in harness, trying to make the wretched Adobe PDF IHT pack work properly in acrobat. Duh !

I need a glass or three, and I will have earnt it by the time we get to Christmas Eve.
