That's 70p a pint, very difficult for the pubs to compete with that. I'll be starting my third batch of homebrew ale shortly, cant see me ever buying beer from a shop again. |

So what was the second one you brewed and what is the new one? The first one was Woodefords Admiral's Reserve wasn't it? |

The first one was Woodefords Admiral's Reserve wasn't it? Correct, the second batch was the Wherry which I prefer, it really is lovely, lighter and smoother than the AR. I still find it hard to beleive you can make ale at home that tastes just as good as the stuff you buy in pubs and shops. My wife has got me a voucher from the local brew shop, I have my eye on this, Muntons Premium Gold Smugglers, it is highly recommended on the brew sites. Do you know it? |

Took d/y last week of 54 asst, bottles / cans, 440ml / 500ml. Kronenberg, Stella and Becks lagers . Cidre (Stella). 8 bottles of Proper Beer. Came out at 88p per item and with a £10 voucher (1st purchase) down to 70p. P.S. The Bishop's Finger is gorgeous (even if one doesn't know where it's been) |

A friend of mine has done the Wherry. I preferred the Admiral, but I do like hops. I don't think I've done the Smugglers, but will check when I get home. |

The Stella may be their new 4% jobby. Becks introduced Vier Bier (clever or wott?) to provide four (ha) public demand four less strong brews. SA have followed suit. |

It's definitely the full strength stuff. I know because I am drinking one right now |

I don't think I've done the Smugglers, but will check when I get home. BTW, how are you getting on with the Organic Château du Parc? I opened another bottle last night and found it tight and ungenerous, very dry, not unpleasant but not how I remember the first few bottles. The addition of a dash of port livened things up, it needed a touch of sweetness, much better. Maybe I should have checked my biodynamic wine calendar first. |

*Duncan spits his Fairtrade Espresso Decaff over the PC screen.... I'm with you mate You dunno how mean its actually been ! There has been shed loads of bl**dy hard claret out there in the seventies & eighties, with diehards telling you it will eventually come round....in the bitter end. However ....Petite chateau owners have been wisening-up since the new millenium......And, the climate has warmed up, for comfortable styles. ** Mellow Birds do they still sell that dire stuff ? Oi - We got two jars of granules on da' worktop, one of 'em is for the bleeding workers, and me when I need a proper job, w'eve had quite a few good guys helping, and repairing and pointing old brickwork this year. Eh ! How do ya know wot me Misses says when she pesters - Huh ? |

Just looked back at your original TN and that's pretty similar to your first thoughts. It was only after it had been open a few days that it came around. I've only had that first bottle of the Parc. The Pionners I got on the same offer/cock-up was more of a glugger so I've tended to reach for that instead. Will give it another a go. Will also remember that port trick. |
