Am looking for a couple of wines with really dire labels. The wine needs to be good, though.

Anyone?

Do you need to buy / drink it (in this country)?

Or will pics suffice?

It needs to be a delicious wine with a crap label.

Thanks

This bottle picked up a gold medal at the most recent national IGP awards

CHANTE-CLAIR

FRANCE

Image

This strutting cockerel in front of a 1960's pop art respendent sunray will have traditional label fanciers arguing the toss.

The wine according to club members and a guy on Cellartracker give this wine pretty decent reviews.

I couldn't get the magged-up large image to display on this page. Maybe Ba, can get the full monte up here in all its querky glory.

Cheers Ba

Duncan, the Chante Clair has a picture of an animal on the label, therefore its guaranteed to sell bucket loads.

I've always thought the Mount Horrocks labels are dull and uninspiring, plus the round label looks out of place on a bottle. Very good wines inside.

The problem is, it's subjective to a certain extent.

Tesco Finest Vina Maria Rioja Reserva has a pretty horrible fussy label IMO, and wizzy reckons the 2006 version, made by Baron De Ley is very good.

Jim Barry Clare Red Shiraz Cab (waitrose) has a naff label but the wine is delicious. I do like the stripey screwcap though.

Also, I think the Dry Furmint Royal Tokaji has a naff label, but I love the wine

Well, thanks for that mag-up Ba.

It does look amazing in all its resplendent querkyness - Eh ?

And cheers for your wisdom on animal labels GK. The picture on the bag of Grain feed for hobby chicken keepers ....springs to mind. Viagra supplement for cockerels ! The mind boggles.

And Paul, nifty Huh.....clickable images - pretty smart stuff on this page. Mel will be after you for this URL method ?

cheers folks

Thanks everyone. The Vina Mara would have been perfect because it's a good wine, and has a dreadful label, but we've already featured it on BWB once.

That Mmm Sauvignon is truly dreadful, but does the wine taste good?
