I thought I'd add some info to Mel's article.

I have tried a few of these recently. Some I have had for some time.

I had the Cab Sauv not too long ago on the 08. Was fantastic, lovely and smokey with sweet blackcurrant fruit, but on the second or third day the smoke had gone and it had softened and seemed tired, past it. I was surprised how quickly this deteriorated. Possibly drink in one sitting.

I had the Merlot on the 2007 vintage. This had labels on the bottle exclaiming it was a historic vintage for Concho del Toro. I wasn't sure whether this meant it was a significant anniversary or something but it inferred it was a great vintage for their wines. Can't argue with that too much. The merlot was delicious. Great sweet fruit matched with chocolatey finish. Lasted well over several days. This had a Silver Decanter sticker too.

Opened the Chardonnay tonight £4.65 from Sainsburys the other week. Its really stinky. A bit too appley for my liking, reminds me of Chardonnay from 10 or more years ago. The oak redeems it for me, but only because of my love of oak. It'd bee too much for anyone else I'm sure and its a bit over the top even for me, so not too impressed with this one.

Thanks tribs, you have posted a good summary of their wines. A straight forward no nonsense approach to Casillero wines.
From this we may deduce that their Merlot has some bottle age ability.

Im a big fan of their reds, cant go wrong for the price. It is often quoted that the Cab is the best value Cab on the planet.

They missed the target but hit the tree.

The Pinot Grigio is excellent and unrecognisable as PG, which is nice.
