There's a well written article on Riesling by Victoria Moore here, worth a read IMO.

I will have a riesling weekend, starting with the bottle of chilean fizz I placed in the fridge this morning (Riesling blend), followed by something Clare-ish me thinks, will also dig out some Mosel for tomorrow.

Riesling, the king of grapes?

Did fillming yesterday for 5 more Birds with Bottle and at 8pm, when we'd finished, we both wanted the Costero Riesling more than any other wine. The Meerlust Merlot was absolutely stunning - really, world class - but the riesling beckoned. In Maj, reduced from £9.49 to 7.49 (2+).

Meerlust Merlot & 15% cab franc is located - I was on the phone to Mark at Maj, when you posted.

Mel, please let us know which vintage is the world class one, (or the one you have recewntly enjoyed) in you book.
Stellenbosch are making wines that suit those folks like me who are looking for something of the traditional school with a french personality.
Right bank merlot on steriods ?? with less earthy minerality - Please elaborate. I need to call him back.

Sorry GK... I have deviated from the Subject - As usual

Costero Riesling;

Chilean riesling - please bear in mind that this one is racy and sauvignon like, quite green and edgy If you are looking for a petrolly riesling, this may not be the one for you ( A report from my Maj) I would like it, he said.
