I went back in tonight to grab a few more bottles of the L'Oustalet CdR and noticed some new additions to the clearence stock-

Castillo de Monseran Old Vine Garnacha '06 @ £3 ( )

I will taste the one I bought tomorrow, might go back for more if its still drinking well.

Also picked up a bottle of Crawford Farm Merlot '09 for £4 to try. They also has the Crawford Farm Pinot Grigio '09 for £4, I passed on this, a 14% PG is not my idea of fun at any price.

I reckon that is either good or sink. Lidl did a cheapo Carignena which I liked.

Quite a few others at mine too
Otterbrook mill SE Oz Shiraz 07 was a possible punt for me (mel reviewed the same vintage in 08)

Can't help wondering tho whether we are paying there true value at these cleanse prices?
Didn't think much to the Rioja reserva and tried the LFE Reservado cab/carm last night which was ok, very ripe and fruity with a little pepper sprinkled in
Uncomplex but an easy glugger

Its easy to get carried away when you come across so much stock that has been reduced greatly, I've learnt from mistakes in the past to choose wisely.

My purchases so far have been restricted to-
3x Xplorador '07 Carmanere (£3)
6x L'Oustalet CdR Reserve '09 (£4)
2 x Jacobs Creek Blanc de Blanc fizz for Mrs GK (£4)
2 x Cromwell Pinot Noir (£4)

Plus the two detailed above. I will go back for the Monseran if it pleases.

They also had plenty of the Crawford Farm SB '09 at £4 but I had already stocked up on this last year when I spotted it incorrectly priced at £2.99

Im not buying any more wine this year.

Gauthier Rose Champagne 3 @ £9 and Dourthe St Emillon 2006 4 @ £4.

No sooner do I get in and she's giving the bloody Bordeaux away.

Fuffing 'ell.

2 x Marques de la Concordia Reserva Signa 2004 (last ones apart from 03) for £4. Could be good.

Also picked up a LFE Cabernet Cellar Selection 2007 for £3.

Tribs,

opened a Concordia last week, improved on the second night.

Ok for £4.00 but will not be searching for more.

The Monseran was lovely, I went back for more only to find an empty shelf.

Would you say this has passed its peak or just not a very good example?

Glad I've only a couple.

The LFE Cabernet ain't bad. Fairly soft, but nice and ripe with a bit of structure and a hint of vanilla and smoke. Bargain for £3. Better than a Caserillo Diablo cab I had the other week.

2009 Casillero del Diablo Carmenère, Chile £6.99 not tried yet.

Torres Gran Sangre De Toro 2005, Spain £6.99, Not tried this vintage yet but other Sangre's i've had have been good, easy to drink, very fruity, smooth.
