....is out http://www.majestic.co.uk/find/category ... t-is-37069 In 2009 it was bone dry ( that in itself is worth 88pts these days ) and very correct in flavour. It lacked pungency though possibly due to an oily texture. I would have been impressed had I not had better. Anyway....it's £6.99 for two. |

Have a glass in my hand as we speak. The nose is quite subdued as is the flavour. I wouldn't say it is typical. Its quite pithy. More grapefruit than gooseberry or passion fruit. It seems dry and there is an oily mouthfeel. There is a bit of length but its not my thing. It seems lacking in flavour and too pithy. This has followed some Vav '09 which was the same price, but there is no comparison. Will try colder. |

Thanks, Tribs. I won't buy any. I had thought to use it as a bulk buy when I next ordered some Pioneer Block. Vavasour and Goldwater merged way back and have been producing highly rated wines ( esp Vavasour ) for many years but both the 2010's and their smaller label Dashwood all seem to be a bit subdued this vintage. The merged company was taken over by an American winery in 2010 and there is concern that they will go the way of Wither Hills and Oyster Bay and start producing wines for the mass market as opposed to lovers of good MSB. |

Might be worth adding one, just to see. It seems fairly well made, not sugary, and its better colder. The nose is more apparent and a bit more flavour. Definite grapefruit, not the sweet pink stuff though, and I think there is a hint of lemon grass, which seems to be a feature of every 2010 MSB tried yet bar the Bird Block, unfortunately. The 2010 vintage has been a bit of a disappointment so far. Although its not perfect, I think I'd rather use the Southbank as a bulker upper. |

Just a fraction sweet for me but... This wine is pale straw gold in color and intensely aromatic with aromas of stone fruit and passionfruit. Subtle citrus notes provide a further lift. The palate displays real fruit intensity accentuated by rich ripe flavors with tropical and citrus nuances. It has a crisp mouth feel and is well balanced with an elegant, long finish. |

Your turn of phrase is most refreshing Mr.T. Just noticed your advice in time. I shall cease and desist and...mmmm....what next? |

Day 2: Very drinkable (not gluggable) at 13c. Opens out at 9/10c into a fine presentation of MSB. Something is stirring. Is it? Can it be? YES, Cheddar. gert proper killer Cheddar. Perfect match. |
