M&S attempt at healthy meal deal without alcohol flops.

The people have spoken.

GK,

But middle class Britons have evidently shown that they remain a pushover for bargain booze, in spite of the warnings of experts.

Perhaps we Brits know a good deal when we see one? A half decent meal for two with a bottle of wine for a tenner, and very little washing up. It’s not something we buy regularly but have done in the past without regret.

We rarely eat out anymore tbh, maybe two to three times a year. We've come to the conclusion that we can prepare as good, if not better food ourselves for a fraction of the cost. And paying £15~£25 for a bottle of wine I can get myself for £6 doesn’t add to the dining experience. We much prefer to entertain.

Just before Christmas we went out one evening to see the xmas lights get switched on, decided to grab a pizza as it was getting late and we had an over-excited youngster with us. We went to ‘Ask’, the pizza was pretty good, however they charged us £5.95 for a 250ml glass of NZ SB. I can’t see us going back for another year, at least. They would get more custom from us if they didn’t take the ‘p’ with the cost of drinks. Luckily I remembered to bring the 50% meal reduction voucher
