Need a half-tidy chardonnay to take to friends over the hols. They like chardonnay ON the bottle and chardonnay IN the bottle and no ponsey names. Not my strong point, but I'm thinking of the Matetic. Anyone tried it or any ideas please

Matetic? The one that smells of stale dripping?

I enjoyed the M&S Red Block Chard recently but I suspect you're looking to spend a bit more. Note.

Is Montes ponsey ?

The Montes signature chardonnay from Majestic

You get a lot of interest for your money, and some expensive tasting dimension - wide burg bottle format. Looks good at table.
Enough power to be served too cool - like you do

The finish is a tad faulty, but they won't notice - Will they ? Look up mine and tribsey's notes - OK

Dunc beat me to it.

If you are looking for something with more subdued flavours but still delightful, the Wente Morning Fog Chard from WR is a good buy. Around £8 I think. Also, although not tried by me, the Catena Chard is meant to be very good too.

Well dun lads, the search engine doesn't reach the "stale-lard" comment.
So, one good thing this week after a load of BS - I've got an Alpha in the dark place. Can take that rather than trying it on my own and buy more if it's nice. Sorted. Give me a high six.

See Wine of the Week, if they can stomach the poncey sounding Macon Lugny. A bit too trad?
