I must declare an interest as i work for Gonzalez Byass who are the agent for Jackson Estate in the UK, but Tesco Online are running a pretty good deal on 3 Cloudy Bay 2008 and 3 JE 2009 for £67.50 (£11.25 average per bottle). You can find it under the online exclusives aprt of the site.

Hi Paul, welcome.

Wine critics are increasingly questioning the high price asked for Cloudy Bay, it isn’t exactly rare anymore (over 1.2 million bottles produced last year) with better SB's available for around £10. This makes this offer ok for the CB but over priced for the JE, therefore I would not place an order for this.

However, I am a fan of Jackson Estate and would always be interested to learn of deals for their wines, so keep them coming!

Hi Paul, Welcome. Saw you register the other day and thought, Yeah, we may hear from you. Even though you put nout-about ya self there  when you registered.

Yes,
As GK has explained, please look through our extensive analysis of New Zealand's sauvignon blancs before being seduced by that Cloudy Bay offer.

We have covered these in great depth. Chucking CB into the offer is a marketing ploy. CB is nice, but it should not influence your decision, and the full retail is trumped up too high for the quality to value. You don't really want the CB '08 at £16 per bottle if you gross up the switch on the JE. ** '08's weren't generally that clever in Marlborough.

I like JE wines as well. The 2007 JE SB was a star.

If you really want and need CB, the best is on the '07 see Shezzer's posting and link to the supplier recently about £14.25 a bottle.

Same could be said of the Astrolabe "Kekerengu Coast" offer at £19.99 less £4 a pair on the green label. The basic on the black label is rated higher.

Yep - Get in here and have a damn good look around the place if your interest is more than your connection at work.

** More from Mr G (goosegogs) on this matter

Richard (and everyone else)

I live in Ollerton, so not too far from Worksop. Been up here 6 years now. Married to a kiwi so have an interest in NZ wines outside of work and when we go over to see her family i try and squeeze a few wineries in. Not on the forum to push any products... i do that during the day...but if i know of a good deal i'll flag it up.
