I'm driving to France in just over a week. Staying near Romorantin / Vierzon. I wondered if any of you could provide some tips for picking up some bargains. Calais warehouses, French supermarkets, unmissable chateau in the area. Bare in mind its a family holiday so I'll have the wife and kids with me. Cheers |

http://www.calais-guide.co.uk/shopping/wine-and-beer-outlets.html 4 of these are in the Z.I. Marcel Doret, almost touching each other. Beware of opportunistic robbers which target english no. plated vehicles. |

Right, Calais ?? You will use Saint Marlo or Cherburg car ferries for your destination. Actually forget Majestic that's for englishmen abroard - Duh, and more expensive at the channel ports. You're going deep into the country where at the supermarche' the Petite Chateau Pauilacs, Margs and St Estephes' may be found, plus grand vins of the Loire, wonderful cheeses and fab salad vegetables. Use French supermarche. These ones have brilliant stock, and really great bargains. HYPER U LECLERK So when you arrive in Romorantin, go to Leclerk and check it all out. There are two and one of them has a poissonnerie / fish monger - so if self catering - Yum Yum Yum Leclerk supermarche' map and location I'm owed a big favour now , I have work to get done.....talk later. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Hey Ba, do ya need more powerful specs ? (smile) In central France many people leave their gites open all day, in remte villages, they dont lock doors all summer. However, tow rags are moving into many European areas, not just all over southern England.......so.... if you use a posh shiny car, put wines and expensive looking shopping in the boot |

Hi, Just returned from further south and bought back around 35 different wines, some I checked out whilst at the cottage. One I found was called Les Bories 2005 from the Langeudoc. A great wine for the money (3.49 euros) Also some Rhone 07 whicgh I like. Happy hunting. Richard |

Yes, will be going through Calais. Eurodisney on the way back. I've had a look at Maj Calais, the good thing is there are some wines that I know are good there at a fraction of the price here, so that might be a good stop on the way back. I normally use Carrefour, but I'll have a look in leclerc. Cheers Dunc. Any regular stock that are good? Medoc, I'll have a look out for Les Bories 05. Where did you buy it? Cheers |

I normally use Carrefour, but I'll have a look in leclerc Nothing in it really. Cos Leclerc is considered half a notch lower, you just may find the vintages you want. Carrefour customers are fairly savvy. The 07 Southern Rhones are the best for decades. We must not let all of them slip through our fingers. When they are gone, they are ...... |
