Tonight I was given a "thank-you" of 3 bottles of white. Two pefectly normal £7 - 10 offerings and a 2005 Auxey-Duresses from Pascal Prunier-Bonheur.
I have sneaking suspicion that this needs to be drunk "tomorrow". Any sagaciousness out there please?

I think you can wait until Christmas, but not much beyond.

Pascal and his family have been acquiring tiny plots here and there for quite a few decades, his family only, have been a very hardworking father to son business for over two centuries. Very typical of the region. Now his misses's name is also on the label me thinks ? They borrowed quite a lot of dosh to make store and yard improvements at the end of '07. There are huge threats to their way of life from cheap labour new world wines.

They have a farm house style home in Mare So I'm told, with a tasting room and cellar under the foundations.

The girl rouge next door is a delicate and balanced wine with length, and I also very much like their Sous Le Chateau Dun Romin, same sort of delicacy where great effort is made to distinguish the different terroirs they tender. None of them are mixed up. I've not tried his '05 whites, only '02 and '04, and one '06, so point of interest in your op.

His tiny amounts of Mare so should also be taken when pretty and in bloom. I'm with the boss on this, 5 years on is perrrfic.

I talk to a charming guy who drives his van down to the Prunier's in early Feb most years to taste and buy. Of the wines I know, they are crafted and in a very different room than high volume negociant mixed-up stuff. Not that expensive either.

NB.....imho, Folks who routinely keep semi expensive mare so for much more than a decade need to get out more.

Ba.....Can you find the label on your bottle. The old vine Auxey has the name Bonheur on the label

The 1er cru, near the village has many fans, some say best in the village, incl. BBR. This label use to exclude the Bonheur partner - dont know recent info. Of the Dun Romin rouge '04, "Sous le Chat" this was a trad curved top shield label with only Pascal's name on it. Damn. I know I have none left on the rack.

Their home with subterrain cellar under it, is in Mare Sew.

He created his own domain in 1983. At the time, he rented vineyards totaling 7.2 acres

Monsieur Prunier in common with other grafters there, has made in the past a Mare Sew from other folks vines in the neighbourhood. These sorts of folks work long hours. Pascal makes good wine.

That's the one - vines 50 years by now, 15% new oak. 2005 is ready but not fast falling over

I'd put good money on that keeping better that half price big T shop poor vintage Mare Sew, cooked on the shelf, etc, etc. However to enjoy at its best........I will ask tomorrow - and give you the buyers opinion of best drinking window.

It just means they're based in Mare Sew. The wine remains Auxey Duresses.

Waitrose have dover sole UK distribution for this wine. Can't go there.

So, you'll 'ave to enjoy with cold white meat, rocket /red lettuce mix & ciabatta from WR as well. Watercress is not in yet - is it ?
