Back in Jan I got odds of 12/1 for the General Election to be on March 25th, I still think I could be on to a winner.

Rumour is, news groups are on alert. Revised Q4 '09 figures are out today, we could still be in Recession.

Our glorious leader wants to avoid a budget, he can’t rely on Darling to dance to his tune anymore and the Q1 figures for this year won’t be pretty. The Tory lead has reduced, a March election is as good as it gets for the boys in red.

I will treat myself to a case of Darting Estate Riesling if I collect my winnings.

I'll be making the most of what good weather we have this weekend and getting some prep work done on the plot.

Tonight I will be opening a bottle of Niepoort's Drink Me '07

Last night we opened another cracking budget white, Tesco Reserve Riesling-Gewürzt '08, £5, made by Angoves. Rich, floral and brilliant, way better than the price or label suggests.

Have a good weekend all.

Am taking a mixed case of Virgin wines down to Cornwall with 5 girls for the weekend. Will post notes on Monday. Am also going to their press tasting in May, so expect a lot more Virgin coverage (sorry) in the future.

Ba, will wave on the way past.

Sounds good Mel - hope the weather holds - it is not raining here - AT LAST.

We have very good ole friends, and my dear sister for dinner etcetera and Joint birthday celebs.
Later today I shall be shoving some polish on the quarry tile floor in the kitchen, as well as other "houseman" chores - logs, fire setting, removing any cobwebs in high corners, bath taps and sinks

Then, a pleasure and indulgence for me - deciding which specials will fit with our dinner.

I shall find the last '02 Beauroy 1er for starters....easy.

Being nice to the ladies (and me), and to fit with vegetarian - I think it may be an '02 Beaune or a super ripe and delightful '03 Auxey Duresses, pudding, hmmnn - the last of the 2000 *Monbazillac would be a pleasure. One has to see what one's quests wish to treat us with. We shall see.

As far as wheeling out the booty - I always think it is very important not to upstage your guests, even very close friends.

Plug....In this respect * A good and mature moelleux Vouvray would be great :) but I have no 2000's left.

A case of wine and 5 girls sounds like my kind of w/e. Virgin though? Hope there is an off licence nearby. What does go with a proper pasty?

I was thinking the same, and refrained from injecting a 'Virgin' quip.

I've had one of these. Well worth the money. It has a Gold Decanter Medal if I remember right. '08 is hard to find round these parts. '09 is all over the place which I have not tried.

I'm not the only person bringing wine. Also, we'll probably be having a couple of meals out.

Sunny tomorrow and torrential rain on Sunday.

Back Sunday night. Have had to enlist support of two carers for the kitten. Couldn't bear to leave such a tiny little mite alone for two days. Round the clock cat amusers.

No point in making sarcastic comments as will be on M5.
