GK wrote: 25% off everthing at the mo. Duncan, what say you about this '07 Rhone? Organic Le Bosquet de la Dame '07 Mel thought the '05 was a fairly simple wine. It presents very nicely. I went to the link, but when I magged-up + the image, the important stuff was obscured. We can't see the growers name or the Caves / Producer where the wine was made. The M&S window restricts the image size into a fixed frame ! So a completely useless web feature for interested buyers. The '07 may be a little riper and softer than the '05 and would be ready post vintage, earlier. '05 was pretty good in southern Rhone, quite stylish and firmer wines were made in CNDP and Saint Joseph. If Mel says simple on the '05, then I'd say that this is likely to be an easy going CdR for £5.99 that is reasonable and a little fuller on the '07. Do we know if anything has changed to improve style at La Dame or wherever Perhaps - Waiting for the Guigal on the Waitrose offers for the basic CdR '07 for £6.49 on the shelf could be a more reliable bet. I do rate Guigal basic - and will buy when the offer comes. Also look out for M Chapoutier CdR Villages Rasteau '07, and any Perrin Villages '07. Offers should come up.......I hope. Organic CdR's fetch bigger money in the wholesale market. £62.91 is a good price. Chapoutier organic would be about £40 trade for 20+ duty paid cases. |

GK wrote: Producer details here. This is a tricky one to decide: Cuvée de Cuvée de La Dame Vieille The Grenache vines in this cuvee are said to be 78 years old in the year 2000. So the '05 vintage on G. vines over 80 years should have been more structured, dimensional and interesting (not simple) ? They say it also has Syrah and Merlot in the cuvee - should be upscale CdR then, and only £5.24 a bottle + delivery. If it were the old vine cuvee La Dame, I'd certainly split a case with you on the '07. Everything is right for good CdR according to the blurb. To be absolutely sure of this M&S offer, being the La Dame Vieille - Dunno |
