Looks like a decent deal from WR, includes GG. £135 the doz.

I saw that. Too much pinot in there for me. I have ordered 12. 6 Stich 08 2 Springfield Estate 09 3 Provence rose ( a good one ) and a Bruce Jack sb. The Fish Hoek. The CB was very intense and well made but had a flavour that didn't appeal.

Have you tried the Fish Hoek sb, Ba. It was under a fiver so won't be too bothered if it's duff and tastes like GK's compost heap.

Or his parsnip soup.

Up the Palace.

Waitrose have a 12 bottle case of Jackson Estate's wines on offer for £135. Although mostly pinot it does include the Grey Ghost which is their oaked sauvignon which sells for £15.

The humble unoaked JE Stich which sells for around a tenner but is on offer for £7.49 is the nicer wine.

Yep, in a mxd doz incl. the Knappstein Riesling. Also a Fairleigh and a Fairhall Cliffs SB, both of which I have not had previously. The Fish Hoek I have as "Fairy Nuff for price, a bit wimpy". Such verbosity.

Thanks for running that through the Enigma machine.

Jackson Estate are a excellent family owned and run winery.

Ifthat Stich is available in the store at that discount price I'll pile in, but I don;t think I want a case of it,

Now, according to the way this forum works it seems I should change the sunject to something quite different ....

Stich is £7.59 in store at the mo. Mine still has '08, though several other NZs are '09.
Anyone tried the Levin Loire?? (on offer at T)

2006 and 13.5%alc

It'll be medicinal and past it.

I don't half fancy the Henry Pelle Menetou Salon though.

Where have you been Pontac ? I think we've discussed the quality of John Stichbury's hide boots

Steam engine for Bacchus.
Pictured here is John with the original Clayton & Shuttleworth Steam Engine purchased in 1899 to thresh grain at Jackson Estate.
John is said to be a lot happier in the engine shed than swanning around with the wine press

Pontac, we think the 2008 JE Stich is the best sub tenner MSB of the 2008's. Look out also for The Ned 2009, quite highly rated by Ba, and in stock here, but not tried yet.

Cheers, didn't scroll down to the '06 bit. That MS is only available in 12s. Never seen it in store.

Think I'll try and swipe a few bottles of Stich too if my local WR has got them in tonight

Now, regarding change of subject.....

Just put made you a favourite author on my cellar tracker.
Can I ask how long have you been on there?
That's quite an impressive tally you have there and the number of bottles you have consumed .... !
Good work

According to my profile, I joined CellarTracker on1 August 2006.

I think it is an incredible facility and its the only online site I pay for. Although payment is volunyart and you can use it entirely free I was so pleased with it I was glad to contribute.

I fully agree.

1,946 bottles consumed since Aug 06 is might good going !

Think Ba might have some competition on his hands :D

So looks like you are our resident SA expert

That consumed total shows all bottles which are no longer in my cellar. So as well as ones that I drank it includes ones I gave away, returned, used in tastings and were spoiled etc.

The amount of info you can drill down to in reports is impressive.

Re SAf, still learning, but I know it pretty well.

Presumably the Special Cuvee? The Life from Stone has the edge for the 2009 vintage IMO, but I don't know who stocks it now. Waitrose seem to have switched to Special Cuvee and in 2008 that had the edge IMO.
