Budget white: Spy Mountain 2008

Yeah, I 2nd that vote from Mel.

Two wines for me to try, although the '93 Auslese will be well out of reach.
Rich, should I look out for Karthaeuserhof - I am totally ignorant of Auslese producers.
Karthaeuserhof 1993 Auslese

Duncan,

Hi, just logged on.

Karthaeuserhof is a fantastic producer I have bought from Tyrel directly on a few occasions now. shipping charges are very reasonable and quick.

Due for a top up late spring time for more 05 onwards.

Top wine, have the following vintages at present 91 mags 93 99/00/01/02/05/06/07 std, in different versions ie kabinett Auslese etc.

Not expensive either but very enjoyable !!

Richard

OK, this is the best I can manage. These are wines tasted at tastings, rather than privately.

Favourite sherries:

Gonzalez Byass Apostoles - £14.99 from WR for a half
Lustau Anada 1990 Rich Oloroso - WR £16 for 75cl (complete bargain)

Whites:

Jadot Pernand Vergelesses 07 Maj
Muga Rioja Blanco Maj
Tim Adams Clare Valley Riesling
Mondavi Fume Blanc Maj

Reds:

Fontanafreda Barolo Sains £19.99
Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2001 WR £25

Privately

Last wine of the year that didn't fizz

Ch Musar (didn't look at the vintage as quite drunk, but it was beautiful)

And some beautiful wines at posh tastings, but need to sort out some work and pour a glass of something.

Mel,

Musar totally agree top stuff but expensive.
Only have two different vintages in stock at present.

Anyone know of any good outlets ?

Richard

Yes, I got that one as well, but couldn't warrant it.

If you are a Musar lover, it is absolutely clear that Serge Hochar's wine has brilliant staying power.

For luvers only - you would be a fool not to pick up some vintage 2002 when the biggy offers are flying around (16.00 or so x 25% disc = £12) , and then handcuff yourself when going into your cellar. Until it is "Very Ready" - `a point.

I think I did see some in the fine wine gondollier (spelling) in that mega Sains in Calcot , west Reading.

I had no idea that 1995 Musar could be £59 to acquire, I did see it elsewhere for £41.95. I've probably drunk the '95 and the '97 before I decided to move the majority of my UK upscale buying to Cote d'Or.

I class myself as a brave and fearless sort of person and my immediate reaction to most suggestions is to say yes first and worry about details later, but can you tell me that this would be an irresponsible thing to do because everything is shouting for me to sign up.

I think I might need to get a grip. I have three children.
