While in Majestic picking up some fizz, I was looking for Mel's recommended Nautilus 07 PN.
Sadly there was only 1 bottle of Nautilus left but it was 08 so I didn't bother and went with a JE Vintage Widow 07 PN instead

Then, while in the vicinity I would ask you to picture a lonely bottle sitting all alone on top of a pile of boxes.

Its a bottle I'm familiar with...it looks so lonely and I need to make up my 6 bottles (and a second NZ to get the discount on the vintage widow) so think "why not?"

Then I notice something I've not seen before... there's a digit that's different from any previous bottles I've had before.... it's a 9 8)

JE Widow 2009 Pinot Noir - Hmnnmmnn. I want to know about the Pinot Noir harvest in Malborough for 2009 ?

The reports and tasting for SB say rather ripe, But because Jackson Estate use oak with their Pinot, this could be very nice indeed with some bottle age.

Shezza - do you know anyone who has tasted this 2009 wine "green" and what they said. I could be rather interested in buying and then maturing this for 2013/14, I'd only want 3 or 4. The demi / riper 2003 Beaune's are drinking very well for me now, and have almost gone here.

Nice buy - Enquiring minds want to know more - Please

Perhaps I was a little too cryptic in my post....

Thought we'd all be accustomed thanks to Ba's influence...

The Vintage Widow PN was 2007 - meant to be very good (according to various reviews - Bob included)

The bottle with "2009" on the label also included the word "Stich" (you with me now ?)

indeed sir

I picked up a JE 2008 this morning too so I now have a 2007-2009 vertical tasting in the making (need to find other people to drink it with tho as no way I'm going through 3 bottles in 1 sitting ! - well, there'd be no way I'd be able to assess which is most to my liking if I did)

Also bought a Ned 2009 to compare with - 5.99 at Maj

Have to say I think this website has some clout coz there is no Nautilus 07 PN left in the 2 Majestics I've visited, the Apostoles sherry went in a flash and there is a significant lack of Ned 09 (and the one solitary JE 09 which I've swiped in my local)
Coincidence ??? perhaps.....

Shez - Ba

Yeah, mentally I had two stabs at this.

My 1st thought was the Stich - Yep, pretty logical actually

But Mr Holmes :?:

I thought,

Well, to qualify for the double barrel discount, you have to load two cartridges into the same 12 bore.

Now,

I learn that the NZ 2 barrel disco, Applies to Any and or All of New Zealand - That is a pretty versatile offer from Madge - 8)

I like it - Anybody know anything about Roaring Meg - that is another PN I have in my sights.

There are six green bottles sitting on the wall, if one green bottle should accidently .............

Is something I've considered too...

I think its Mt difficulty's second wine isn't it ?...
They have a PN that retails around 20 squid at Waitrose which I've tried once at a tasting last year.
Recall it was good and did well against a decent line up but that my first real intro to NZ PN so I can't say that means anything
That said, I recall it usually gets decent acclaim in write ups.

Roaring Meg is meant to be pretty good too I believe - I think I remember reading previous reviews that were good.
dunno how 2008 was for Central Otago.... but it was meant to be a bit of a naff vintage in Marlborough for PN as well as SB.
