Just won three of these in the work draw.

£3.99 at Majestic, only one note found mentions loads of oak and to leave a few years !!

Any thoughts on this cracker

I'll wager its a touch on the hot side. These SA budget blends usually are.

Might use it to de-frost the car then

It is a weiiiiiird and complex blend, which (I believe) changes annually. I quite enjoyed 2 or 3, but it's difficult to describe. Not too sure about ageing though.

These links may help - except flagstone winery change the mix every year it seems.

loads of Web references on Google.

Enjoy your Raffle winnings - Or save for a summer barbequeue, looks like it's Ok for one glass only per guest - see wine doctor report.

Jancis quite liked the 2002. For £3.99 this was once reconned to be a reasonable drink - Never tried it myself, nor any of my mates :?:

Maybe, the most recent cuvee's are not appreciated - except by the girly girlies.

Might use it to de-frost the car then

Bad Idea - Too sticky on the screen

The Freerun SB is good value as well. The Two Roads (another weird blend) however is DIRE...went down the sink.

This must be the worse white wine I have ever tasted.

Thanks for warning. Flagstone have had some good write ups here.

Is it fair to say that a wine described as "White" or, indeed "Red" is often rubbish. Winemakers are generally proud of their grapes and so if they aren't then there may be a problem.

err -- the wine is described as white on Majestic's website, itsnot part of the wines name.

The label, as shown on the site, has the three main grape varieties on the front label. Bruce Jack is very proud of his grapes and is a consumist proponent of blending.

Is there the possibility that the wine was 'off' as I don't think that Bruce Jack has ever sent out a bad wine?

Not sure if it was corked/oxed I still have two more in the cellar but these have been pushed into a dark corner waiting for another 5/10 years to find and wonder about how they taste !!

I still have Cloudy Bay from 91/93/94 down there to try in the coming months/years !!

Noon Gun is definitely a 'drink young' wine, imo.

You didn't get round to opening them over xmas then Richard?

Be interesting to see whether they've stood the test of time...
Imagine it'll be pretty hit and miss (largely skewed towards the "miss" side)
