I have no idea what any of the above taste like and have no intention of finding out...oh no not me !

I've had two bottles of this recently, both were poor. Bitter elderberry and hot alcohol is all I got.

Sainsburys do a decent TTD Oloroso Lustau for around £7, very nice, cool and creamy. If you are new this this style I would recommend you cut your teeth on this first before spending big.

Drat, see now that that could be ambiguous. Not tried it yet. Been a long time since I've partaken of port.
Had a girly once who drank it with lemonade. Also bottled light ale and lime (before the lager revolution).

When all is considered, one could argue that port and sherry are the best value wines available on the planet. Yes?

I still associate it with Master & Commander and leather chairs. Oh! and falling asleep.

Precisely the point of the article, I guess they have their work cut out.

I've done this with a real stocking - yeah, way back when. My dear lady would still sport them for dress-up, until quite recently, "we are no longer spring chicks" she says ..... . I've also used a ground coffee filter to get the very end out of the bottle.

I have 2 bottles of Royal Opporto 1983 in my cellar, unfortunately GK's web site says they are no good now. I wish I'd drunk them when they were great big tannic beasts - I had 6, and the 4 that we knocked back were great at 6 years and then again were rather clear and refined at 10 years.

I should have looked at a Port site in 1993 ? one prob, I was not on the web until 1997, and even then, surfing the web was pretty skinny for several years until 2000, I'd say. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong stuff

I will get one out during the Festive season - I imagine and am hoping that not all RO'83's are completely naf.
