2002 Château Prieuré-Les-Tours, Graves, Bordeaux, France
Majestic, £9.99 or buy two for £7.99 each until February 1
Maquerky notes:-
Prieuré-Les-T was one of those rundown Graves properties with only 15 ha of vines that had to wait until its new Spanish owners expanded the vineyards to 80ha in 1990. At the same time, the winery was completely revamped and the merlot-dominated clarets — here topped up with one third cabernet sauvignon and a dash of cabernet franc — are now rich, fat, powerful, mature, reds just like this one. Actually, many of those run down places made better concentrated, rustic & interesting wines, than the ploughed up fields with new vines wines - She's too young to know ! However, the fields are now 12 years, so added to the old vines - could be ok.
Not as FAT as she says, (she's got '02 muddled with '03 and 2000
![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
) but could be half decent. 2002 better in land, than down by the river on the left bank. Graves would have enough scaffolding in '02 even at this basement level.
Cosmo has tasted at Cellar Tracker 19/11/09, said good for a few more years
and Jeanjean in Belgium says it's good
£5.99 at Majestic Callais
6 - 7.99 euro in Belgium '03 not ready ?
If you go off to Madge to find more 2009 MSB to put under the microscope, you could do a lot worse in loads of places for drinkable claret for 8 quid.
