This first release of Majestic Peaks Pinot Noir shows vibrant wild thyme, spice, liquorice, rich raspberry jam and cherry aromatics. The palate is all about Central Otago showing elegance and a soft powerful tannin structure supporting cherry, cassis, chocolate and raspberry spice flavours. This will drink wonderfully with duck cooked in Chinese five spice.
Rather gushing ? Free range duck has rather a strong flavour.
I don't really want jam though per se' - ie, boiled raspberrys. There is a change in nose and flavour when raspberries are boiled - Raspberry compot maybe is nicer for a PN.
I've read Pension scheme promises that were less compelling !
