Shezza wrote:  yeah, didn't know whether that was a bit near the knuckle... If it offends I'll happily remove Looks rather frantic and hard work, a bit of a flog, I'd say. However, moving on: The Landmark Hotel, London NWI. Shezza, I can see you dancing on the refrectory tables in the middle of the ballroom Taste the Giscours for me please, it's one of the few, I can afford when I'm feeling very generous to myself. I'm sorry Figeac grand cru classe' (B) Saint Emilion is not there. It is one that I feel could be a bargain for the 2009 vintage (following on from 2008 prices) Figeac has a higher proportion of Cab 39% and some franc. In years when the Autumn harvest is warm, dry and late, the cab is firmer, and makes up for the B status. Figeac is across the road from Cheval Blanc. Figeac can quadruple in value in the right years. I did see the '03 in Hyper U supermarche in 2006 at just 42 euro (250 caisse bois de 6) when the euro was cheap. Conserve 10 `a 20 ans when the right vintage. I wasn't in France in 2008 to view the 05's. '82 Figeac was fetching nearly 200 Euro pour bois. Figeac presents with a classic label, very typical of the style of the best on the right bank. |

I’m at my local independent’s Christmas tasting this Friday, looking forward to that. A more modest event compared with the Decanter shindig, the benefit being my friend and I get to taste all the wines on offer, twice, before staggering off to a nearby curry house. |

my local independant are rather smart and do theirs on a Sunday afternoon which means myself and the rest of the local p!ssheads won't really abuse it anything like we may on a Friday I don't really use them anywhere as much as I'd like to. Mostly because they're not open when I get home from work or on most Sundays other than during the run up to Crimbo. Also the fact that their selection and prices in my eyes aren't competetive with the likes of Majestic is another reason also most of all tho is lack of website which has to be a massive modern day faux pas ! |

Will do sir - have made up a short list of stands I must visit including the French suggestions from you guys here. Looks like only their 2006 first wine is on offer then a couple of other labels in other vintages available to try Like I said, have tickets available if you annd Mrs Dunc fancied a trip into town - would have thought Marylebone not too tough a journey from...... |

hahahah That my friend is one Mr Sacha Baron Cohen as one of his more famous (but obviously not THAT famous) characters: Ali G Charcater is based near Duncan's neck of the woods in Staines which he refers to as Westside hence the ring and "W" finger sign |

Looks like only their 2006 first wine is on offer then a couple of other labels in other vintages available to try Ahhhhhh. Why 2006,. Giscours 2006 will probably fur your gums out. Have they no sense. It's £32 at Laithwaites and Not Fluffing Ready. Seen the '06 cheaper during the crunch. Nincompoops, Numb sculls. Hardly representative ! They obviously don't want to promote the chateau brand. maybe the're getting shot of some stock on U lot |
