My personal opinion of Viognier seems to be a mixture of those in the Alamos post. Condrieu is too expensive and far too hot and, in fact, quite a lot of the S France and NW examples are also pretty warm. The peach aroma sometimes puts me off as it seems a little ripe and overblown, sometimes like rotting apricots and then there's the bitter, kernal taste on the finish which, when tasted alongside the lighter fuel, isn't very lovely. I rather like the TF Block 7A but mainly because it tastes of Semillon rather than V. I think it has some success in a blend, but it's not really a grape for me. |
