A dear, now departed, pal of mine was a wine buyer for Gateway (later Somerfield, and now take over by Co-op). He specialised in Spain. A few Xmas's ago he told me of a brilliant Cava that was up-coming in the bubbly wars that year. It was really special and at a stupid price. He said it would keep and that I should grab a load. Time went by without the appearence of said Cava and when I next saw him, in January, I demanded answers. Several thousand cases of the stuff were still sat on the docks at a major Spanish port (is that an oxymoron?) due to a labourers strike!!! Gracias.
