At A Great Little Pub called The White Hart In Grafton Regis. I understand from their web site that they source 'Sutter Home' Through A Supplier called Francis Fine wines in Leicester, I had a trawl around my local waitrose last night but I could not find any!
Is it possible that some wines are sold exlusively to merchants only? :x

Yes, many labels you see in restaurants are available only to the on-trade. This saves them from the embarassment of customers comparing their rip-off mark-ups with the same wine in supermarkets.

However. Sutter Home 'white' Zinfandel has been fairly widely available. Sutter Home pioneered the so called 'white' Zinfandel (and it was virtually white when it first came out). You can buy it for £6.49 from Drinks Direct at http://www.drinksdirect.co.uk/acatalog/ ... Blush.html

Are you being sarcastic?

As to where you can get it at a reasonable price, Walmart sell it for a handful of dollars.

Actually, I can't find it anywhere at a reasonable price. Have you tried other US White Zins? 52% of the rose we drink in the UK is from California. There's an awful lot of it about to try, if you can't get hold of the SH at a good price.

We had friends over for supper a couple of weeks ago. One particuarly amusing, and quite well-bred, friend had been offered an amount of cash for various favours, and we discussed, at length, how much cash we'd require to do various things. Drinking Sutter Home White Zin didn't come into the equation, but it would be interesting to discuss where it would be placed within the usual bases. Of course, you'd need to set the parameters regarding who the other party was. If I had to set drinking SHWZ against first base with a heroin-addicted tramp, there'd be a clear winner, but it would be close.

Each to his own. I have friends who would dismiss Ch de Beaucastel, with its brettanomyces, mouse, horse shit and general decay, as being undrinkable. For me, there is little more attractive.
