Nice choices. I've had the Merriman which is very good.

Was hoping to score some of the Wither PN but none available in store or online.

I have a bottle of the Cousino-Macul which I have not yet tried. Was eyeing these up but did not buy in the end. Have you tried this?

Shez,

Ba and I were only joking about this. It tastes like a blend of strawberry pop and Firefinch SB.

I gave my last one to Myfanway....a toothless, petrol drinking, squirrel abusing, alcoholic tramp. She took one swig, screamed, farted and passed out.

She's been sober ever since and last week was promoted to Mother Superior at the local nunnery. Alcohol is banned but squirrel abusing is still permitted at weekends

Take them back.

Whilst you still can.

These are all new ones to me Tribs
Have you given the Cousina a go before?

I did pick up 2 of each (bar the WH which was the last on the shelf) but decided to put a couple back - I'd be hung drawn and quartered by the Shez women if they knew I was spending the Xmas prezzie budget :)

Gotcha !

Tis lovely.

That said. I think the Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chard/PN 09 is either it's equal or so close as to be taken for the same wine in a blind tasting by all except GK who in every blind tasting since the 70's has mistaken everything for asparagus and parsnip soup.

The Wolf Blass is a £1 or 2 cheaper at £9.99 or £6.66 when on offer.

Not much in it price wise or taste wise

Which is still infinitely better tasting than the dross you waste your Welsh groats on

The WWCB has been on my radar for some time, let us know how you find it Shezza.

will do GK
Normally 11.99 so not bad at 8.99 after the offer

Cellar Tracker tasting notes, tho limited for 07 look to be good and consistant through previous vintages
Looks like it needs to be left open a while or kept to discover its true quality but I'll try and give it a go this side of xmas if possible

my WR fine wine section had so many tempting offerings in the £10-£15 range that I'd like to have given a go when all made <£10.
Will have to wait for the next round of 25% to get stuck in

Tribs,

Just seen the WH PN 08 is down to 9.99 at Maj when you buy 2 or more bottles: wither hills @ Maj

Don't. I've already bought another 6 at Waitrose. And I've got 12 in my Majestic basket right now.

I suppose VAT is up in January and no doubt a duty rise will follow it so best get my purchases in now

Picked up a six pack on Saturday whilst passing the Newark branch !!
Strange how we where due in that area with the sale on ??

3x Musar 03
1x Felsner 09 Very good already drunk
1x Gestos 08 Nice label and info on front reasonable for the cash
and another white which I have forgotten now !!

The Musar is a favorite of mine and the reports are very good so far on this vintage.
Will open one at Christmas and leave the other 2 for another 5 years maybe 10 depends if I can ignore it though.

Any other Musar fans here ??

Richard

Love Musar. Definitely one of my desert island wines. Stupid price at Waitrose normally.

Now, Majestic have this wine:

Hochar Père et Fils 2003, Château Musar, 13%

Ch Musar is £17.99 at WR and this above is £11.99 reduced to £9.99.

According to their website (Musar, not Maj) it's aged for a shorter time before release.
