Really?! I was looking to get some of this while on offer at Maj for 10.99. You telling me that its going cheaper than a tenner at asda?

Mel tasted the 06 twice in 08 and both timmes didn't score it very well

I also see that Waitrose now do a Mayu Select Vineyard for <£9...

£8.97 in Asda. The only reason I didn't get any is because I had seen it in the Maj G2G mag but couldn't remember the price. I was shocked when I found it was £10.99.

Shez, have you tried the Vinalba Malbec Reserva? I'm tempted by this also. I can't get enough Argie at present.

not tried the Malbec reserva but that too had had very good reviews from the Decanter gang, the Wine Gang and Jamie Goode
Whenever it's on discount at Maj it only ever seems to have a quid off and is even then still more expensive than than the Malbec/syrah so have never rushed to get it

Had a bottle of Ben Marco Malbec the other day that I'd had for about 6 months or so.
Bit more expensive than some of the others but it was very good. Better than the Catena Malbec imo
some decent reviews on Maj for it too: Ben Marco

Also would like to try the Finca Gestos Malbec. Tried about a year ago and thought it was good for a cheapy

Apparently Co-op have 1 or 2 decent malbecs worth looking at too.
Decanter did a Malbec tasting in one of the recent mags and they scored very highly for their price
Infact this is their current wine of the week: http://www.decanter.com/wine/finder/The-Co-Operative--Malbec--Mendoza/73973

Can't see it online. Guess I will have to pluck up courage, dig out the wellies, insert ear-plugs, don ear defenders then dash in store, grab some ans dash out.

I had the Reserva Riesling not the Vision. It was dire but might appeal to lovers of Mosel riesling who like a bit more body.

It was Tesco.

I fancy this though.

Oh and i've been to 5 Co Op's...no Estate Reserve MSB.

You're such a bastard !

Goose, I'll swap you some for some Oh Block 6

Tried the 06 Vinalba Malbec/Syrah last night. Thick, dark and hot. The nose was very good, but it was so spicy and hot that I couldn't really taste the fruit. Perhaps it could do with yet more time. We will see how it develops over then next few days. Will also try the 08 soon to compare.

I have had about 30 Mosel rieslings. Mostly bought at prices ranging from £7 to £12 and some expensive wines shared with lovers of the wine at resteraunts and dinner parties.

Although I am always impressed with the intensity of flavour, the flavour is just not to my taste. I have one Mosel loving friend who thinks that drinking sauvignon and not riesling is the same as turning down a life spent with a beautiful and charmingl women in favour of a life spent with ugly and dull one.

Mrs Goosegogs doesn't like him much.

Thanks for the offer. I will take you up on it if passing.

Btw what I meant about the Cono Sur being dire was that it was so full in body as to be hard work even though the underlying flavour was ok.

Braved Asda today, but no success. The vision is not in vision.

Hi,

Just picked up six of the Vinalba 08 from my local Asda, very friendly chap but them to one side for me to collect.

Has anyone tasted this yet ?? Would it be best drunk young or with some age ??

Regards
Richard
