I have always drunk "linearly". I.e. open a bottle, drink it, open another etc. This leads to a judgement decision spread over many hours, possibly many days.
Tonight I have 4 whites open and have dabbled in each. A Touraine SB/Cha, a SA SB/Sem, an Aussie Chardonnay, and a Bx SB.
What a difference. Previously, I would have ranked them all as o.k., but with this set up there is one very nice and 3 not-so-good.
I've absorbed a great deal of info from this site, some of it bigotted, some of it light-hearted, some of it way above my head and some well beyond my wallet.
Yes I am a little "ivre" and out of my league, but also I am appreciating this endless world a little more.
..and so to bed

BA,

Dont worry you are not alone on the learning front.

Take advice and listen to experienced wino`s is wise but you cant beat your opinion of a wine and whether you enjoy it or not.

I have been to many offliners where I have slated a wine only for someone else to love it !!

Going to Bruges this weekend and intend to sample a few wines I have never tried or probably heard of !!

Good luck and report anything you enjoy whether its £2.99 or 29.99

B,

I don't agree with MedocMad. I think you're a complete and utter moron wot shouldn't be allowed to post. For eg, you don't even know the difference between a 2 day old £2.99 colombard/ugni blend and a Pouilly Fume.

...oh hang on, that was me.

Forget I replied and besides as far as knowledge goes you've already caught up with and surpassed GK.

I'm sure he just drinks carrot juice whilst waffling on about parsnips and Wolverhampton Wafflers

A pacsmileyman...nice

In my formative years I was greatly influenced by pacman. That’s why I walk around the room eating pills and listening to repetitive music.

Goose has changed his profession.

I understand that following a spell at OU, he graduated in Contradiction Management.

Keep taking the medicine Ba. Didn't know If we should ask, may we inquire your favourite of the 4 whites (on this occasion). We do this horizontal at a family and friends dinner - normally there is general agreement, with food there is more certainty though.
