2007 Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre Vintage Report
A difficult vintage and a mixed growing season which presented mildew problems for growers who had not managed their vineyards well. Fortunately those who did benefited from a warm September that enabled the grapes to ripen fully, producing stunning Sauvignon Blancs, particularly where growers restricted their yields and made a careful selection of grapes. Sancerre’s are a little leaner than Pouilly-Fumés due to a little more rain falling in the Sancerre region
The message for those who are buying this 2007 PF & S Vintage from current UK stocks, when the pound had not fallen 30% against the Euro is:
Spend a bit more to get twice as much satisfaction.
As usual, do your research to avoid disappointment.
