back to the thread title:

Like tescco and Sainsbury, Waitrose are now offering 25% off all wine and champers until 10th Nov when you buy

After that a new batch of offers will be running from 11th (their barossa shiraz will be one of the participating wines which will be discounted by ~28% (down to ~6.49 IIRC)

Mel MW (only right to use the new letters seeing how hard you've worked to achieve them), I've just noticed that WR aren't on the offers page anymore.. Is that because there are no offers on specific wines currently running?

Woo hoo

How did you find out, Shez? Have you passed a store? Mel mentioned she suspected so the other day and I have been formulating an order. The website is always slow to catch up on the changeovers.

For folks who particularly liked the 2007 Crozes from Waitrose at £7.99. The best of the supermarket ones in my opinion, and more oak in this cuvee than the others, yet balanced.

The 2009 vintage now, another good vintage in southern Rhone, and is now on offer at 26p more.

The 2009 vintage gets the IWC award label affixed. Shoppers here are clearing the shelves - As usual ! I just got a pair in time.

The 2009 Crozes - with the IWSC silver. They never got to the '07 it seems,

Starts off wth thrilling spice for a 100% Syrah, violets in that spice ! A third gets the oak treatment.
But, that Up-front thrilling spice does not hold in the glass so well after some time - Hmnn. Next day the wine is nice and the spice is a more natural back woodsman.

Not a bad Crozes at all, Good deep syrah, and better than a tired St Joseph for sure, but the 2007 vintage had more length, a rare depth of fruit at this price and seamless tanins, and those things get the Big Star.

:qofgoodvalue: on offer

Rose tinted spectacles for '07 southern Rhones ? I don't think so
