Cheers Mel :)

The pics of the top doggies is great for punters.

The Touraine, and the two sub tenner Clarets have been put in the Diary for a visit at the end of November.

Cremant is not really my thing, the bubble bath gets in the way, (nice bottle shape though, and Ba likes it a lot) but the Rioja at £5.99 sounds most appealing.

I also have the Corte Major 2008 from the Co Op so, I'll report back when I get to them.

Thanks

We had a party in our Avenue last night. Kids games in the afternoon and then we all brought something (even numbers puddings, odd numbers salads) and things to put on pizzas (goats cheese, chargrilled peppers and garlic, and pesto on mine mmmm) and Cesca, who has a pizza oven in her garden, cooked dozens and dozens of pizzas, which were as nice as any pizza I have ever eaten. We sat out until quite late, with fire pits, in the middle of the (cul de sac) road and it really was very lovely. Anyway, dragging it back to wine, we drank the Toro Loco Rose from Aldi, which is £3.59 and it slipped down beautifully. For that sort of evening, there is no better wine. Well...

Dunc,

Hi, I found the Corte Major 2008 a let down compared with the Muriel 07.
Very one dimensional nothing excited me at all, bland nose no back bone no length very poor IMO.

Try the Tuscana red from Adli at £3.99 its a real cracker I have it for mid week drinking.
Dont buy the Toro Loco red though as per my last post on this wine unless you like a real hangover after drinking half a bottle.

Have I sampled the Muriel ? I should 'ave done - I normally check for Rioja with some bottle age - so reliable from most retailers in this Euro / Spain / Italy...... double dip recession.

Laithwaite has been heavily discounting Strozzi Toscanas - not to £4, I have to say, but to £7.99. I dont think many folks understand the correct mix with Sangiovese, which has to be just on the mark.

In for a penny, in for a pound. I'll report back on the Corte Major fairly soon.
