We, myself and 2 close neighbours enjoyed this 2002 Chanson Beaune under the old pear tree last night, before the warmth of the evening retired.
Beautiful wine, and a true bargain when bought for less than £18. Worth a lot more now to replace - and that's how it is with burgundies that perform.

This wine tastes exactly as described - no bullshit at all. Chanson own vineyards all around the premier cru slopes of Beaune, and when they make a blend of them, and sell at a reduced price (not a monopole 1er) on a good vintage, they are very lovely.
Look out for this wine.
Steer away from 2004 and 2007. They will of course be a lot cheaper, but they will not have the real beauty that you are looking for. It is a trade-off, when providing wines for a notable occasion, drink less volume, enjoy more quality.
This 2002 vintage, which is recognised as good to very good for Beaune has the best drinking window 2009 - 2015. Maybe 'a point just now to 2012, not sure. It all depends whether you want more freshness, or more fig and vanilla notes with your black cherry. Lovely coating mouth feel, great length.
On the cost for beauty scale - best PN this year
Enjoy.
