Over 100 years ago, the first generation of the Silva family pioneered Colchagua Valley, the region that today produces Chile's finest premium wines. Today, the fourth and fifth generations own and run the winery, making it one of the most important family-run estates in the country.
Although it tastes similar to a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, it is not a blend of these wines but a single variety found mainly in France and Chile & it offers similar citrus freshness to Sauvignon Blanc together with a soft, smoky and mineral complexity What makes this one stand out from the crowd is the age of its vines. At 105 years old, the yields are tiny but the results are worth it. The flavour and intensity is incredible with a silkiness of texture and impressive complexity.
A bit too pricey for me, but in the offer case good value.
