Good producer - good vintage - 12 months bottle age - cheap as Lidl chips for PF - Jaime Goode of Wine Anorak rates this and may even have selected it as Lidl's only Loire sb in their extensive new range of fine French wines.

Should be good then.

It's not.

Bone dry, unbalanced alcohol makes the wine seem rich and liquor like. Fruity ( blackcurrant with a hint of gooseberry ) but no minerality even when served at the suggested temp of 18-19c.

Even for not much money it's poor.

Gogs ~wishing I'd bought the Macon Villages for £1 less~

Errrrr - not fine.

TBH, buyers of Sauvignon blanc may acquire better QPR advice from here. He most likely rated the wine on price alone for a PF label perhaps ? Bottle variance ? Yet for SB people, there is no point in spending less, if the wine is less than indifferent.

A recommended serving temperature of 18-19C for a Pouilly Fume' is close to absurd ! For a warm Loire SB, flaccid me thinks, U sure G ? Must be a printing label / posting typo.

It was 18 to 20.

To be fair to them it was the only thing they got right. Twas bloody hard work at sitting outside in the sun temp but even more unpleasant after half an hour in the fridge. Chilled the alcohol totally spoilt the wine.

Bad badder and much worse...

Mel said it was astringent. She's so polite.

Chewy as well as astringent, G ! Reading the TN, (the brochure was inside the Observer on Sunday) it reads like a contribution provided by Richard Bampfield, 87 points. I don't get why anyone would want a gum puckering out of the fridge door ? Too dry and with attitude is a fashion fad. . . . .there will be those who . . . . .

I'm checking my nearest big store tomorrow. For folks who have not seen the well produced brochure, printed on quality paper, there is a further discount available on the till, Pick up a fancy new wine carrier, pick 4 French wines, get £4 off.
