2012 Saint Clair MSB

Pungent with pure blackcurrant flavour. Acidity is too high on day one but much more laid back on day 2. 86 on day 1 90 on day 2.

2013 Saint Clair Pioneer Block '43 Degrees' 3

The only Awatere style Pioneer Block. Low acidity and restrained Awatere flavours of tomato and bramble. Equal to Astrolabe and Villa Maria Clifford Bay. 90 on day 1 91 on day 2. ( Bob's 93 for the 2012 would be fair enough based on this. He likes the Awatere style more than me )

2012 Saint Clair Wairau Reserve MSB

Very complex. Blackcurrant, passion fruit, boxwood, capsicum and on day 2 flint and something new to me. Tobacco! But it's fighting the sweetness which is unbalanced. 4.0 g per litre.

94 from Bob 88 from me.

I doff my cap to SC for making all their wines on the light side of medium bodied.

A good report G. It's costing you more to enjoy these days !

2013 Saint Clair Pioneer Block '43 Degrees' 3 - You said low'er acidity ? I wonder if the quality is hiding the perception of it. Sounds very nice indeed. Restrained can be an elegant virtue !

Cheers.
