Loves to be cold. 6c in this case. Upfront orange blossom fades to very subtle Clare Valley lime and petrol and bows slowly out with a faint but utterly lovely Peter Lehmann semillon 2003 ( or was it 2002 ) beeswax note. Gorgeous wine that can only improve. Clearance bin so hurry. |

Off out to get what's left. There's two giant Asda stores in Cardiff. A mate will do both after work tonight in the hope of finding a few more. I am no expert on how wines develop but I would love to try this in five years time. I would hope for less orange blossom and more beeswax. |

Good luck with the hunting Mr G, Note to myself, Goose how dry is this Riesling on the standard 1 to 10 scale ? The demi-sec ones with orange blossom can evolve with a distinct marmalade note in the profile, which I'm (just me) not that particularly keen on. I will google the nearest Asda if you say dry'ish on the scale 1-3. cheers. |

2 - 3 at most. I can't get the link to the pdf tasting notes to work. Lots of golds and silvers. Ageing potential 5-7 years. http://jacobscreek.co.uk/wines/reserve/riesling |

My Asda didn't have it on the bin end shelf yet Both the Riesling and Pinot noir are marked down from £10 to £7 but the label had a red diagonal line through them However when performing a price check the Riesling was still £7. I'm assuming the line indicates it may go down further, either that or it's just to symbolise end of line and perhaps this wine is cheaper in Wales than London I left it on the shelf for now and may check back at the end of the week |

Managed to get 11 bottles of the 2011 and 3 2012 for £5/bottle. 2012 Drier more austere with flavours of lime and honey. More like a very young Barossa Semillon that needs many years in the bottle. I won't buy any more of this vintage. That said, in twelve months time, it could be where the 2011 is now. I don't have MrD's ability to see ahead. |

I don't have MrD's ability to see ahead. Nor do I for a JC wine that I've never tried in the past They say 5-7 years, so the've been there themselves. Whether anything happens is .......... what is the sulphates content ? Probably low, since Barossa riesling is likely to be pretty clean. Yeah, for the marmalade note on a demi, and most distinct on a sticky, I'm interpolating on the probable, based on the grape and Alsace and 40 + years of European experience of which 90% is old world France and Spain. The ugly ducklings are much more difficult to assess since we know that a congenial princess can emerge, or the old nag will waive a contemptious finger ! For riesling outcome, I'm not your man G, ya know that. You've bought a dozen - good luck G, or drink as you please |

I can't parry that G, enjoy the Riesling. Also be sure to tell us how this wine evolves, we need to know how these OZ ones turn out. Cheers |

I've just opened a '12 from Sains on the last 25% offer. Really quite pleasant. I screwed up my face prior to taking the first sip. No need, no need at all. Excellent characteristics but without the petrol, especially when cold. Not the great depth and finesse of Alsace/Mosel, but damn good value. Think I paid £6.20 and could drink this by the pint. |
