Unlike the VM 2010 This is not holding up at all. Hint of petrol and is ' showing it's vegetal side ' as polite wine writers say of past it sb. |

To be fair you can see what the fuss is about on day two. Deep concentrated boxwood with a hint of blackcurrant but some of the Pioneer Blocks are better. |

G, this wine also exhibits the kind of deterioration from poor cellaring. My understanding, Bob C talks about properly cellared Astrolabe wines, and my own experience, proves that NZ sauvignon blanc can keep well at 8C. A stong boxwood note, sounds as if this wine is aging rather fast. Who supplied these expensive SBs ? We need to know. If you are sure of your opinion - ask some bl**dy awkward questions ! Majestic stores are not cool enough for fragile whites, but some of the supermarkets are far too warm for anything, other than mooching around with a thin shirt on in the middle of the winter |

Winedirect.co.uk This wine really improved on days two and three. Not the beat I've had and not worth the dosh but good in it's own right. I would buy the 2012. As Bob rates it 94 as opposed to 91 for the 2010. |

G, I have a feeling that the rich, concentrated SC Wairau reserve with the extra boxwood note, could suit me. I have just one Vavasour 09 (the cockerel label) in the cooler, a tropical fruit salad - I'm hoping it hasn't faded. We'll see. I also have 2 x SC Oh block 6 '09 and an Astro KC '09 in the cooler for special. Here's hoping. |
