What I call a half decent offer, £3 off at the CoOp, £5.99. Produced by Oliver Bonfils. For Rhone folks - If you're passing you could do a lot worse for a mid week glugger. Good quality GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) Tastes as if it were very lightly oaked, and Syrah dominated, which is remarkable for the offer. Very deep colour, but not over-extracted on the palate. Some "Lirac" style spice, good texture quite fleshy. I wonder if this 2011 vintage was very successful in the Languedoc ? Taste is good, balance is good, finish does hold for longer than many. A lot deeper and more interesting than a bulk CdR. I think this will keep, 5 years. Rather young at the moment, but with bottle maturity, I'm pretty sure this could be a very nice patio evening quaffer. Google translate but you get the idea: Syrah can speak beautifully on this land, with controlled yields around 40 hl / ha. Traditional vinification with punching and daily power cuts for maceration up to 75 days depending on the year and tastings tanks. This wine is aged in vats for several months to give it flexibility and tannins Punching down the cap and daily battonage Are these oak vats ? |

Oak it is... 'Cette cuvée a fait l’objet de tous les soins : vendanges à maturité optimale, macération pré-fermentaire à froid pour le grenache et macération longue avec piégeages journaliers pour la syrah. Le vin a bénéficié ensuite d’un élevage de 18 mois en fûts de chêne français sélectionnés dans la forêt de Tronçais, avec bâtonnage régulier pendant les 6 premiers mois.' |

Thanks for the info Mr B, most appreciated. I wonder if it's still £5,99 ? For me. it is a "no brainer" not to get a few more of these on the rack for future Summer evenings, & Autumn fireside - Bonfire night ! Or just quaffing I have enjoyed a sunny week, I'm also grateful for that. Small Languedoc producers can do the job, without posh prices. The burgundy shape bottle presents very well, very good real cork (no dark bark bits seen, and firm ) with bronze initialled foil. |
