Pungent wine with a huge Saint Clair like blackcurrant nose. Blackcurrant and grapefruit on the palate with some richness to the body that I could do without. Bob could give this 90 but no star from me unless the body softens over time. Reminds me of Goldwater....stunning flavour just a tad too rich. VM WR still leads the 2012 MSB's |

Eleven months after first bottling. Rich and heavy with underlying blackcurrant leaf flavours. Not sure whether it needs time or abandoning. None of the sharpness of the 2011. |

Reminds me of Goldwater....stunning flavour just a tad too rich. VM WR still leads the 2012 MSB's Yep. For the price point, and up to Astro levels plus - VMWR leads here as well. The 2011 was rather good on Friday and Saturday, served a little colder than normal due to it's palate weight and tendency towrds pink grapefruit when over exposed to air. The 12 is not yet resolved enough for me, so the lighter VMWR 2010 is the dancing ballerina for me at the mo. The last Craggy Range 2010 was a tad flat (taken too late), too subdued for a MSB. For me Villa Maria WR is the bench mark for certain. |

The best complement that you can pay a bottle of JE is to say that it tastes of JE. This does. Blackcurrant and a hint of slowly developing smoky acorn. Lovely now but will get better. ( the richness has faded but that acorn hit needs time ) VM WR still has it but it's close. |
