Fumé it says and fumé it does. Bit smokey, bit herby but in a party frock. Made by Fournier who make multiple brands of PF, all different soils, all different prices, all different life-spans.
More sedate on days 2 and 3 but enjoyable throughout.
Think I'll have a butcher's for some '10 next time that I'm in.

Had a large glass tonight. Slightly off dry which is unusual. Some nice blackcurrant bud but no minerality. Still pale and fresh.

Dryish white wine 9/10

Pouilly Fume 5.5/10.

'10 much the same. Pleasant enough but not one that I would rush out to spend £13 on - or even £10.
Doesn't have real class - a little peevish perhaps.

BA & G

Q. Would you spend £6 per bottle on the 2010 ? The ten should be coming good now........

Mel awarded the star in late October last year.

Look forward to your thoughts

It's Pouilly Fume lite and with no minerality. I cannot see this ever coming good as a PF. If you want a decent Touraine with a posh label then fine. But even at £6 i'll pass.

JE 2011 is down to £6.75 after 25% tis very sharp but with acorns and blackcurrants and it's getting better by the month.

Ride the roller coaster MrD ...ride the roller coaster.

Thanks Mr G, I dumped the PF, but still had two rides on the big dipper.

Now, where do I find half a dozen decent Loire on the '10, without burning a large hole in my wallet ? (11s & 12s are out)

Depends what you mean by a large hole. There's nothing in the supermarkets from 2010 worth buying at any price. Crochet's basic 2010 is £15 at Winedirect. Plus delivery.

Expensive but lovely with outstanding reviews. Much nicer than the Vacheron at bigger money or Pascal Jolivet's basic.

Not sure what you'll get for less.

We are planning to go to Erbray, deeper on the far east side of Loire-Atlantique, by ferry and car. I think I should make a list of the producers that you fancy Mr G, and save my pennies until I've seen what can be bought back in the boot.

Crochet is a producer that I don't know. So there's another name to look-out for on my list. Cheers

Bought one for £6. Perfect PF. Light/medium bodied with gooseberry fruit and hint of acorn. Will buy 12 more tomorrow.

Prepare for a series of bitching posts about bottle variation.

This is the 2011. I'm guessing that it's at it's peak. I cannot believe that it has come good.

:qofgold: ( this star relates to the bottle that I am drinking and hopefully to the bottle that you're about to drink....but it might not. Good PF/Sancerre is like that )

Bottle two is like a blackcurrant liqueur. Warm and fruity. Not for me

I have 2 x '11s on the latest 20% offer.
One slug used to deglaze a pan whilst making some stock.
First taste was on day 2 and really nice, and a lovely colour. Again this needs to get into 10+ temps before the tastes emerge. Did I say 'nice' ? Yep, nice it is.
