Made from Pinot Noir. Dry strawberry and chalky minerals giving it a white Sancerre like finish. Very, very good and worth the money. G p.s...thanks for the Sancerre review Mel. |

Last bottle we opened had a slightly musty smell and taste. Any idea as to what could have caused it. |

how long since the vintage? was it like smelling old hymn books? perhaps corked. did it lift after furious swirling? perhaps sulphur being french i don't suppose there was any mention of winemaking on the back label, otherwise it could just be old oak. pinot is sometimes quite undergrowthy, but if you had a first bottle, you know how it should be. good to know tesco are doing something right - although not this bottle. am going to their press tasting on the ides of march. will report back. |

2005 vintage. Unoaked Old hymn books is a pretty good description of the smell....no offence to old hymn books. It was still drinkable...just. Slightly corked I guess, then. Any more like this and i'll take them back. Cheers G |
